About

The Muhammad Ali Mosque, also known as the Alabaster Mosque, is a stunning architectural landmark located in Cairo, Egypt. Commissioned by Muhammad Ali Pasha in the 19th century, it stands within the historic Citadel of Cairo and is one of the most prominent examples of Ottoman architecture in the region. Completed in 1848, the mosque was designed by the Greek architect Yusuf Bushnaq, featuring a blend of Islamic styles that reflect the grandeur of the Ottoman Empire.

One of its most striking features is the large central dome, which reaches a height of 52 meters and is surrounded by smaller domes and towering minarets. The mosque’s interior is adorned with intricate mosaics, decorative arches, and stunning alabaster walls, giving it a serene and majestic ambiance. The courtyard, spacious and inviting, offers visitors a moment of reflection amid the bustling city.

The Muhammad Ali Mosque serves not only as a place of worship but also as a symbol of Egypt’s rich history and cultural heritage. It reflects the vision of Muhammad Ali Pasha, who sought to modernize Egypt in the 19th century. Today, the mosque remains a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors who marvel at its architectural beauty and historical significance.

You can see the whole horizon of Cairo from this place. Every corner tells a story. And of course, there are continuous maintenance and upgrades to the place. Really clean with free parking
